Cube projects
Sam Jedig’s Stalke Cube project explores the cube as both a sculptural object and spatial idea. Central to his artistic practice, the cube serves as a point of connection between artwork, environment, and public interaction. Through installations across landscapes in Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, Jedig investigates how form, nature, and culture intertwine.
Whether placed in moss, snow, volcanic terrain, or waterfalls, the cube acts as a catalyst for transformation. As a sculptural element, it challenges spatial perception, but it also invites play, reflection, and participation. In some works, children climb inside the cube; in others, it is carried, broken through, or set in motion across fields. The project’s 2020 Towards Sierra Nevada performance, documented by Associated Press, reached a global audience via seven news platforms.
Rather than being a static object, Jedig’s cube responds to its surroundings – engaging with wind, time, gravity, and the people who encounter it. It becomes a site of energy, not monumentality.
